20th March 2018, Essex UK: Matt Palmer is excited to announce that he will be joining the Assetto Motorsport team for the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in 2018.
After winning consecutive titles in the Millers Oils Toyota MR2 Championship Matt made the step up to national racing in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. Matt has been competing in his Ginetta GT5 as a privateer since 2015 where he finished as the top privateer in his opening season...
It was the "fly away" race of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge season at the weekend. Hosted by the legendary Zandvoort Circuit as part of their British Race Festival Weekend.
Qualifying took place on a damp track but a dry line in places. Matt gambled on it drying out and went out on slicks for the entire session. The gamble paid off and on the last lap of the session I put it on P4 for race 1.
Pretty gloomy weather greeted the drivers in the opening round of the Protyre GT5 Ginetta Challenge on Bank Holiday Monday at Oulton Park. Matt Palmer did not fair too well in qualifying for race 1 in the wet saying that "Car set up was way off in quali and race 1, we need to work on a wet set up!" However from a qualifying position Matt was able to make up 6 places to finish 10th in race 1.

Essex, UK – Today (24th March 2017) Matthew Palmer Racing have been joined for the 2017 season by Prescott Motorsport. Prescott motorsport will be supporting Matthew Palmer in his 2017 Protyre Ginetta GT5 Challenge which covers 19 rounds and 7 events including support races to the British GT Series and Dunlop MSA British Touring Cars.
After a very quick turnaround, it was a long drive up the M1 to get to croft Circuit in Yorkshire, to support the BTCC for a second time this season. I was unable to do the pre-race test day so it would be straight into qualifying.
Straight away I could tell the car either was not set up properly or there was an issue with the suspension. I was struggling to get the car to stay on the circuit never mind get a quick lap time in....
